Learning To Suck
Sucking is investable but that’s okay
Weather it be guitar, singing, drawing or writing whatever you’re learning is a skill. And I’m sorry to say but at first you are going to suck. When you first pick up a guitar you won’t instantly transform into Bob Dylan. At first the metal strings are going to bite into your uncalloused finger tips. Your strumming will be slow as you memorize the rhythms. Does this mean you should never try to learn guitar because you are not already perfect? No it’s a starting point a spring board into small achievements.
Learning a new skill it not a straight slope to greatness. It’s a gruelling climb up a mountain many are not brave enough to face. It’s looking fear, failure, plateaus and back slips straight in the eyes and trying again. It’s experimenting being curious and stepping into the unknown. It’s about building community and strength.
One thing I always do is down play what I have done “oh I leaned a new song but it’s simple only three chords and a straight forward strumming” No me and you probably. Stop that! Do you know how many achievement you made doing that?! You learned three chords how to transition between them a strumming pattern and did it all together while telling yourself you don’t sound like the recording. You did the thing! Be so proud of that song.
Anything worth doing well is worth sucking at. Masters of there craft are still learning, still exploring and still passionate. Let the passion and fire that grows deep down keep lighting the hardest of days. The days when the words don’t feel right or the chord change isn’t settling right, or you have drawn the same ear eight times and it’s still too low.
Let yourself grow from your past works. Look back at your old work with a fondness for your growth. Let the passion blaze in your soul. And allow yourself to try.Put yourself out there and let the people who resonate with your heart share in your growth.

It's so important to be okay with being bad at a thing before you grow!
